As a natural born servant, I’ve been in the healthcare profession for 30 years, with a passion to edify those needing progressive care (care provided to those who require more long term need). I strive to provide education on holistic care to help empower patients, families and healthcare teams to improve the health outcomes of communities.
I received my Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston,Texas and have dedicated my professional and ministry calling to God’s glory.
Preventive care and wellbeing starts with an individual choice. For those nearly 1.2 million currently incarcerated and 9.6 million who are released yearly, education and tools are needed to help navigate them on how to make and maintain this choice with the limitations they face. Studies have long shown that healthcare disparities are associated with underserved populations. Correctional healthcare efforts are not enough to support the needs of those who are incarcerated. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, when compared to the general population, men and women with a history of incarceration are in worse mental and physical health. [1]
